Wedding Venues in San Roque
San Roque sits in Cádiz province at the far western end of the Costa del Sol, looking across the bay to Gibraltar. The historic town centre is up on a hill, founded by families who left Gibraltar in 1704, and it still has the feel of a proper Andalusian town.
Below and around it is golf country: San Roque Club, Alcaidesa and Valderrama all within a few minutes, along with the coastal stretch running towards Sotogrande.
Why couples choose San Roque
Value and space. You are minutes from Sotogrande without Sotogrande prices, with the same landscape of cork oaks, golf courses and views across to the Rock.
The setting is unusual for this coast. From the higher ground you can see Gibraltar, the Bay of Algeciras and, on a clear day, the mountains of Morocco, which gives wide photographs a backdrop nowhere further east can match.
Golf estates make practical wedding venues. They have parking, indoor and outdoor space, kitchens built for numbers, and staff used to running events.
Getting here
Gibraltar airport is around fifteen to twenty minutes, the closest of anywhere on this coast. Málaga is roughly an hour and a half and Jerez about an hour and twenty.
The Gibraltar option is worth taking seriously for UK guests, as fares and transfer times are often better than Málaga.
When to marry here
May, June, September and October. This end of the coast is a little cooler and windier than Málaga province, which is welcome in summer.
The Levante wind is more noticeable here than further east. It affects marquees, hanging lighting and outdoor ceremonies, and is worth discussing with your venue.
Good to know
San Roque is in Cádiz province, not Málaga, so local rules, suppliers and paperwork differ slightly from the rest of the Costa del Sol.
The distance from Málaga means some Málaga-based suppliers charge a travel supplement. We use suppliers based closer where it makes sense.
Accommodation is spread out rather than concentrated, so plan guest transport rather than assuming people can walk between hotels.

What our couples say
From the moment we found Swish Soirées, we knew we were in safe hands. Planning our wedding from Madrid while organising guests travelling from across Europe could have been overwhelming, but every step was handled with professionalism and genuine care. The venue looked even more beautiful than we imagined, and every supplier was exceptional. Our family still talks about how magical the whole day was. Thank you for making our dream wedding a reality.
We couldn't have asked for a better wedding planning experience. Every recommendation was perfect, communication was excellent and everything ran exactly as planned on the day. We were able to relax and enjoy every minute with our family and friends, knowing everything was being taken care of behind the scenes. It was simply unforgettable.
Our wedding on the Costa del Sol was everything we'd hoped it would be. Every little detail reflected us as a couple, and the whole day felt relaxed, elegant and full of joy. We never imagined planning a destination wedding could be so straightforward. The support we received throughout the process gave us complete confidence, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.
Choosing Swish Soirées was one of the best decisions we made. From helping us find the perfect venue to coordinating our suppliers and managing the wedding day itself, everything was organised so professionally. We didn't have to worry about a single thing, which meant we could simply enjoy every moment with the people we love. We would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in Spain.
Getting married in Spain had always been our dream, and it exceeded every expectation. The planning process was enjoyable from start to finish, and every question we had was answered quickly and honestly. The attention to detail was outstanding, and the entire celebration felt effortless. Our guests described it as the best wedding they'd ever attended, and we couldn't agree more.
We honestly couldn't have wished for a better experience. Planning a destination wedding from Ireland seemed like a challenge at first, but from our very first call we knew we had made the right choice. When the day arrived, everything was exactly as we'd imagined and the whole day flowed effortlessly. If you're thinking of getting married in Spain, we can't recommend this team highly enough.

Weddings in San Roque
Where is San Roque?
+
In Cádiz province at the western end of the Costa del Sol, looking across the bay to Gibraltar. The old town sits on a hill and was founded by families who left Gibraltar in 1704. Sotogrande is a few minutes away.
Which airport is closest?
+
Gibraltar, at fifteen to twenty minutes, the shortest transfer of anywhere on this coast. Málaga is around an hour and a half. For UK guests the Gibraltar route is often both cheaper and quicker.
Are golf clubs good wedding venues?
+
They work well. They have parking, sheltered indoor space alongside terraces and lawns, kitchens built for numbers, and staff used to handling large groups. San Roque has several championship courses within a few minutes of each other.
Is it windier here than the rest of the coast?
+
Somewhat. The Levante wind is more noticeable at this western end, which is pleasant in summer but matters for marquees, hanging lighting and unamplified ceremonies. It is worth raising with any venue you are considering.
