El Molino del Duque, Manilva

El Molino del Duque is an early 18th-century flour mill in the valley below the village of Manilva, on the western Costa del Sol. It once supplied flour to the old town; today it is a restored family estate of five hectares, three of them tropical gardens, with a pink manor house, palm-shaded lawns, a Japanese courtyard and a long swimming pool.

It is a venue for big, relaxed garden weddings. Up to 350 guests can celebrate across the lawns and courtyards, the DJ can play until 4am, and the coast at Puerto de la Duquesa is only a few minutes away. Six bedrooms in the main house and guest house let the two of you and your closest family stay on site.

Good to know

Common questions about El Molino del Duque

What is included in the venue hire?

+

Exclusive use of the estate for your wedding, so no other events take place that day, with the gardens, courtyards and pool area for your ceremony and celebration, and private parking. The six on-site bedrooms can be added for your closest family. Catering, drinks, styling and entertainment are arranged around your plans, through the venue's preferred suppliers or your own, and we can organise all of it.

How many guests can El Molino del Duque hold?

+

Up to 350 guests for the ceremony and reception, across three hectares of gardens and courtyards. It also works for smaller weddings, as the gardens can be dressed in sections.

Where can we hold the ceremony?

+

Most couples marry in the gardens, on the lawn among the palms or beneath the trees, or in the courtyard in front of the manor house. Civil-style and symbolic ceremonies take place on the estate, and religious ceremonies can be held at a nearby church, about nine minutes away.

Can we get legally married at El Molino del Duque?

+

A legal civil wedding in Spain usually requires at least one partner to be resident, so most couples from the UK and Ireland marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony at the estate. A Catholic wedding can take place at a local church with the right permissions. We guide you through the options and confirm the current requirements.

Is there accommodation on site?

+

Yes. There are six double bedrooms, four in the main house and two in the guest house, sleeping up to 12, with breakfast served in the Japanese courtyard. For other guests, there are hotels a few minutes away in Manilva and Casares, and we can arrange room blocks and shuttles.

Is there a music curfew?

+

DJs can play until 4am, while live bands and orchestras need to finish by midnight, and music must follow local noise regulations. Fireworks are not permitted at the estate.

Do we have to use the venue's caterer?

+

No. The venue works with preferred suppliers at agreed prices, but you can also bring your own. Catering typically starts from around €150 per person, and there is a licensed bar with no corkage charge.

How much does a wedding at El Molino del Duque cost?

+

Published guide prices for venue hire start from around €5,900 (Bodas.net), varying with the date and guest numbers, and a full wedding typically comes to around €31,000 including catering, drinks and styling (WeddingVenues.es). We confirm the exact hire fee for your date and give you an itemised budget.

What happens if it rains?

+

The salons in the main house can be used for the ceremony or reception, and a marquee or stretch tent can be put up in the gardens. We agree the wet-weather plan with you well before the day.

When is the best time to marry at El Molino del Duque?

+

Late spring and early autumn, from May to June and September to October, are the most comfortable. July and August are hot, so ceremonies are best held late in the afternoon. Winter weddings are possible on mild, sunny Costa del Sol days.

How far is it from the airport and the coast?

+

About 25 minutes from Gibraltar Airport and about an hour from Málaga Airport. The AP-7 motorway is around 3 minutes away, Estepona around 15 minutes, and the beaches and marina at San Luis de Sabinillas and Puerto de la Duquesa just a few minutes.

Is there parking?

+

Yes, there is private parking on the estate for around 100 cars, and we can arrange shuttles so guests do not need to drive.

What can guests do nearby?

+

Plenty. Puerto de la Duquesa has beaches and restaurants, and guests can book golf, boat and yacht trips, horse riding, wine and olive oil tastings or spa days. Gibraltar, Marbella and Ronda all make good day trips, and we can arrange a welcome dinner or farewell brunch too.

Do you plan weddings at El Molino del Duque?

+

Yes. We can plan your whole wedding at El Molino del Duque or coordinate the day you have planned. Planning is charged at €75 per hour plus VAT with a 10-hour minimum, and on-day coordination starts at €750 for a half day plus VAT.
