Why get married in Málaga?
Málaga has become a genuine city break destination, and for a wedding that means guests can arrive, stay in the centre and walk everywhere.
- The only place on this coast where a wedding can run without guest transport
- Hotels at every price point within walking distance of the historic centre
- Rooftop terraces, the Alcazaba, the Roman theatre and converted spaces in Soho
- Airport fifteen minutes away, twelve by direct train
- Restaurants and bars for the nights either side
- High speed rail to Madrid in around two and a half hours
Wedding Venues in Málaga City
Málaga has changed enormously in the past fifteen years. It was the airport you passed through on the way to the coast, and it is now a genuine city break destination, with a reworked port, a dozen museums and one of the best restaurant scenes in southern Spain.
For a wedding, that transformation matters. Guests can arrive, stay in the centre, walk everywhere and never need a car, which is rare on this coast.
Why couples choose Málaga
Guest experience, above all. A city wedding means hotels at every price point within walking distance, restaurants and bars for the nights either side, and things to do that do not involve a beach.
The settings are unlike anywhere on the coast: the Alcazaba and the Roman theatre, the cathedral, rooftop terraces looking across to the port, and converted industrial spaces in Soho.
It is also the only place on this coast where a wedding can genuinely run without transport. That removes a whole category of planning and cost.
Getting here
The airport is fifteen minutes from the centre, and the Cercanías train runs there in twelve minutes. Málaga also has a high speed rail connection to Madrid in around two and a half hours.
Once here, the historic centre is entirely walkable and taxis are plentiful, unlike in the coastal towns.
When to marry here
May, June, September and October. The city holds heat more than the coast because of the stone and the lack of sea breeze in the centre, so July and August need shade and later timings.
The city is at its liveliest during the Feria in August, which is spectacular but makes accommodation scarce and expensive.
Good to know
City centre venues have stricter noise limits than rural ones, because of neighbours. Confirm your curfew before booking a band.
Some historic buildings restrict what you can attach to walls, which affects lighting and floral installations.
Feria week in August fills the city. Check the dates before you set yours.

What our couples say
From the moment we found Swish Soirées, we knew we were in safe hands. Planning our wedding from Madrid while organising guests travelling from across Europe could have been overwhelming, but every step was handled with professionalism and genuine care. The venue looked even more beautiful than we imagined, and every supplier was exceptional. Our family still talks about how magical the whole day was. Thank you for making our dream wedding a reality.
We couldn't have asked for a better wedding planning experience. Every recommendation was perfect, communication was excellent and everything ran exactly as planned on the day. We were able to relax and enjoy every minute with our family and friends, knowing everything was being taken care of behind the scenes. It was simply unforgettable.
Our wedding on the Costa del Sol was everything we'd hoped it would be. Every little detail reflected us as a couple, and the whole day felt relaxed, elegant and full of joy. We never imagined planning a destination wedding could be so straightforward. The support we received throughout the process gave us complete confidence, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.
Choosing Swish Soirées was one of the best decisions we made. From helping us find the perfect venue to coordinating our suppliers and managing the wedding day itself, everything was organised so professionally. We didn't have to worry about a single thing, which meant we could simply enjoy every moment with the people we love. We would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in Spain.
Getting married in Spain had always been our dream, and it exceeded every expectation. The planning process was enjoyable from start to finish, and every question we had was answered quickly and honestly. The attention to detail was outstanding, and the entire celebration felt effortless. Our guests described it as the best wedding they'd ever attended, and we couldn't agree more.
We honestly couldn't have wished for a better experience. Planning a destination wedding from Ireland seemed like a challenge at first, but from our very first call we knew we had made the right choice. When the day arrived, everything was exactly as we'd imagined and the whole day flowed effortlessly. If you're thinking of getting married in Spain, we can't recommend this team highly enough.
