Wedding Venues in Ronda
Ronda is built on both sides of a gorge a hundred metres deep, joined by the Puente Nuevo, an eighteenth century bridge that is one of the most photographed structures in Spain. It is the single most dramatic setting within reach of the Costa del Sol.
It sits around an hour and a half inland from Marbella, up through the mountains. That drive puts some couples off, and it is exactly why the town still feels like itself rather than a resort.
Why couples choose Ronda
Nothing on the coast looks like it. A wedding here gives you cliff edges, a Roman-era bridge, one of the oldest bullrings in Spain and a landscape of vineyards and mountains, all in one place.
It is also considerably cooler than the coast, sitting around seven hundred metres above sea level. In July and August that difference is the difference between comfortable and unbearable.
Ronda is wine country. The Serranía de Ronda has a growing number of small bodegas, several of which host weddings, and a vineyard wedding here is a genuinely different proposition from a beach one.
Getting here
Around an hour and a half from Marbella and roughly the same from Málaga airport. There is a train station with services from Málaga via Bobadilla, though the road is usually simpler.
The drive up is winding and beautiful. Coaches manage it comfortably, but allow more time than the distance suggests and warn guests prone to travel sickness.
When to marry here
May, June, September and October are excellent. The altitude keeps summer manageable, so July and August are more viable here than on the coast.
Winter is genuinely cold by Andalusian standards, and evenings are chilly from October onwards. Indoor or heated space matters more here than anywhere on the coast.
Good to know
The distance means most guests will stay in Ronda rather than commuting from the coast. Accommodation is limited, so block book early.
Coastal suppliers charge travel supplements to come this far inland. We use Ronda and Málaga-based suppliers where it makes sense.
The old town streets are narrow and largely pedestrian, so vehicle access and drop-off points need agreeing in advance.
