Why get married in Benalmádena?
Benalmádena packs more variety into a small area than anywhere on this coast: an award-winning marina, long beaches and a white village in the hills above.
- Twenty minutes from Málaga airport, one of the shortest transfers on the coast
- Puerto Marina, unlike any other marina in Spain and beautiful in the evening
- A traditional white village in the hills with views over the whole bay
- Direct train from the airport to Arroyo de la Miel
- Colomares Castle, a Buddhist stupa and a cable car for guests to explore
- Ceremony in the hills and reception by the water within fifteen minutes
Wedding Venues in Benalmádena
Benalmádena has more variety packed into a small area than almost anywhere else on this coast. There is Benalmádena Costa along the seafront, Puerto Marina with its distinctive white architecture, and Benalmádena Pueblo, a proper white village in the hills behind.
It is around twenty minutes from Málaga airport, which makes it one of the quickest transfers on the Costa del Sol and a sensible choice when guests are flying in for a long weekend.
Why couples choose Benalmádena
The marina is the draw for many. Puerto Marina is unlike anywhere else on the coast, a warren of white buildings and waterways that has won awards for its design, and it photographs beautifully in the evening.
The village above gives you the opposite: cobbled streets, white walls and views down over the whole bay. There is also the Colomares Castle, a monument to Christopher Columbus built in the twentieth century, and a Buddhist stupa on the hillside, both of which are unlike anything else nearby.
Practically, the mix means you can hold the ceremony in the hills and the party by the water without anyone driving more than fifteen minutes.
Getting here
Málaga airport is roughly twenty minutes by car. The Cercanías C1 train line stops at Benalmádena Arroyo de la Miel, running direct from the airport in around twenty five minutes, so guests can arrive without a transfer.
A cable car runs from Arroyo de la Miel up to Monte Calamorro. It is not wedding transport, but it is a genuinely good thing to send guests to do on the day before.
When to marry here
May, June, September and early October are the most comfortable. The town is busy through July and August, which affects hotel prices more than it affects the wedding.
Evening light over the marina in September and October is exceptional, and worth building your photography timings around.
Good to know
The village and the coast have different noise limits. Village venues sit among homes and are usually stricter, despite feeling more remote.
Puerto Marina venues can be busy with the public in high season, so if you want privacy check exactly what is exclusive to you.
The hill roads are steep and narrow in places. Coaches can manage them but need routing in advance.

What our couples say
From the moment we found Swish Soirées, we knew we were in safe hands. Planning our wedding from Madrid while organising guests travelling from across Europe could have been overwhelming, but every step was handled with professionalism and genuine care. The venue looked even more beautiful than we imagined, and every supplier was exceptional. Our family still talks about how magical the whole day was. Thank you for making our dream wedding a reality.
We couldn't have asked for a better wedding planning experience. Every recommendation was perfect, communication was excellent and everything ran exactly as planned on the day. We were able to relax and enjoy every minute with our family and friends, knowing everything was being taken care of behind the scenes. It was simply unforgettable.
Our wedding on the Costa del Sol was everything we'd hoped it would be. Every little detail reflected us as a couple, and the whole day felt relaxed, elegant and full of joy. We never imagined planning a destination wedding could be so straightforward. The support we received throughout the process gave us complete confidence, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.
Choosing Swish Soirées was one of the best decisions we made. From helping us find the perfect venue to coordinating our suppliers and managing the wedding day itself, everything was organised so professionally. We didn't have to worry about a single thing, which meant we could simply enjoy every moment with the people we love. We would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in Spain.
Getting married in Spain had always been our dream, and it exceeded every expectation. The planning process was enjoyable from start to finish, and every question we had was answered quickly and honestly. The attention to detail was outstanding, and the entire celebration felt effortless. Our guests described it as the best wedding they'd ever attended, and we couldn't agree more.
We honestly couldn't have wished for a better experience. Planning a destination wedding from Ireland seemed like a challenge at first, but from our very first call we knew we had made the right choice. When the day arrived, everything was exactly as we'd imagined and the whole day flowed effortlessly. If you're thinking of getting married in Spain, we can't recommend this team highly enough.

Weddings in Benalmádena
How far is Benalmádena from Málaga airport?
+
Around twenty minutes by car, one of the shortest transfers on the Costa del Sol. The Cercanías C1 train also runs direct from the airport to Arroyo de la Miel in about twenty five minutes, so guests can arrive independently.
Can we marry at Puerto Marina?
+
Several venues around the marina host weddings, and the white architecture and waterways make it one of the most distinctive settings on the coast. In high season the marina is busy with the public, so check what space is exclusively yours.
Is Benalmádena Pueblo very different from the coast?
+
Completely. The village is a traditional white pueblo in the hills with views over the whole bay, cooler in summer and much quieter. Many of our couples hold the ceremony up there and the reception by the water.
What is there for guests to do?
+
The marina, the beaches, a cable car up Monte Calamorro, the Colomares Castle and a Buddhist stupa, all within the municipality. It is one of the easiest places on this coast to keep guests occupied for a long weekend.
