Cortal Gran
Cortal Gran, Costa Brava
Cortal Gran is a fortified 15th-century castle in Sant Pere Pescador, in the Empordà countryside close to the Costa Brava coast. Built by the Caramany family and restored in 1999 by its current owner, it stands on its own among 125 hectares of apple orchards, with palm-filled gardens, a private forest and a greenhouse (Wedinspire; Bodas.net).
The estate is yours for the day, with a space for every moment: vows in the forest, the gardens or the castle courtyard, drinks on the lawns, dinner in the hall of arches or under the great porch, and dancing into the night. It holds up to 300 guests, with hotels and rural houses less than a kilometre away.
The spaces
The Courtyard
The castle’s imposing courtyard, ideal for a civil ceremony.
The Hall of Arches
Vaulted stone arches and chandeliers for a candlelit dinner.
The Great Porch
A huge covered porch opening onto the lawns, for long tables and dancing.
The Private Forest
A tunnel of trees for a shaded ceremony aisle.
The Gardens
About 16,000 m² of lawns and palms, with room for a marquee.
The Iron Temple
An iron-framed pavilion, plus a glass greenhouse among the poplars.
A medieval castle among the orchards
Surrounded by apple orchards and with no neighbours, Cortal Gran is entirely private on your wedding day, and hosts just one event a day (Wedinspire; Bodas.net).
The venue has a kitchen for catering and can work with its own recommended team or the caterer you choose. Church weddings can be arranged in nearby villages such as Sant Martí d’Empúries and Castelló d’Empúries. The beaches of the Bay of Roses are close by, and Figueres is about 20 minutes away.
