Why get married in Manilva?
Manilva is the last town in Málaga province, with a hill village, the beaches at Sabinillas and a small marina at Puerto de la Duquesa.
- Vineyards in the hills, unusual on this coast and only minutes from the sea
- A fraction of the visitors of Marbella or Fuengirola, with prices to match
- Puerto de la Duquesa, small, walkable and unpretentious
- Gibraltar airport twenty five minutes away
- The hill village runs cooler than the coast in high summer
- Quiet beaches without the development further east
Wedding Venues in Manilva
Manilva is the last town in Málaga province before you cross into Cádiz, and it is one of the quietest stretches of this coast. It has three parts: the old village up in the hills, the beaches at Sabinillas, and Puerto de la Duquesa, a small marina ringed with restaurants.
It is also wine country. Manilva has grown muscatel grapes for centuries and still does, which gives the hills behind the town a landscape you will not find elsewhere on the Costa del Sol.
Why couples choose Manilva
Quiet and value. This end of the coast sees a fraction of the visitors that Marbella and Fuengirola do, and prices reflect that, while the beaches and the weather are the same.
The vineyards are the distinctive part. A wedding among the vines with the sea below is a genuinely different photograph from the usual Costa del Sol beach shot, and the setting is only a few minutes inland.
Puerto de la Duquesa is small, walkable and unpretentious, and works well as a base for guests who want somewhere to eat and drink within walking distance.
Getting here
Gibraltar airport is around twenty five minutes and Málaga roughly an hour and ten. The Gibraltar option suits UK guests well.
There is no train, and the town is spread across three separate areas, so transport needs planning both for arrival and on the day.
When to marry here
May, June, September and October. The village in the hills is cooler than the coast in high summer, by a useful few degrees.
The Levante wind reaches this end of the coast more than the Málaga stretch, which matters for outdoor ceremonies and hanging lighting.
Good to know
Accommodation is more limited here than further east, so block book early if you have a large guest list.
The three parts of Manilva are several minutes apart by car, so decide early whether the ceremony, reception and accommodation are together or spread out.
Fewer suppliers are based this far west, so some travel from Marbella or Estepona and charge accordingly.

What our couples say
From the moment we found Swish Soirées, we knew we were in safe hands. Planning our wedding from Madrid while organising guests travelling from across Europe could have been overwhelming, but every step was handled with professionalism and genuine care. The venue looked even more beautiful than we imagined, and every supplier was exceptional. Our family still talks about how magical the whole day was. Thank you for making our dream wedding a reality.
We couldn't have asked for a better wedding planning experience. Every recommendation was perfect, communication was excellent and everything ran exactly as planned on the day. We were able to relax and enjoy every minute with our family and friends, knowing everything was being taken care of behind the scenes. It was simply unforgettable.
Our wedding on the Costa del Sol was everything we'd hoped it would be. Every little detail reflected us as a couple, and the whole day felt relaxed, elegant and full of joy. We never imagined planning a destination wedding could be so straightforward. The support we received throughout the process gave us complete confidence, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.
Choosing Swish Soirées was one of the best decisions we made. From helping us find the perfect venue to coordinating our suppliers and managing the wedding day itself, everything was organised so professionally. We didn't have to worry about a single thing, which meant we could simply enjoy every moment with the people we love. We would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in Spain.
Getting married in Spain had always been our dream, and it exceeded every expectation. The planning process was enjoyable from start to finish, and every question we had was answered quickly and honestly. The attention to detail was outstanding, and the entire celebration felt effortless. Our guests described it as the best wedding they'd ever attended, and we couldn't agree more.
We honestly couldn't have wished for a better experience. Planning a destination wedding from Ireland seemed like a challenge at first, but from our very first call we knew we had made the right choice. When the day arrived, everything was exactly as we'd imagined and the whole day flowed effortlessly. If you're thinking of getting married in Spain, we can't recommend this team highly enough.

Weddings in Manilva
Where is Manilva?
+
At the western edge of Málaga province, just before the Cádiz border. It is made up of the hill village, the beaches at Sabinillas and the marina at Puerto de la Duquesa, each a few minutes apart.
Can we have a vineyard wedding in Manilva?
+
Manilva has grown muscatel grapes for centuries and the vineyards sit in the hills just inland from the coast, with the sea below. It gives you a setting quite unlike the usual Costa del Sol beach wedding, only minutes from the water.
Which airport should guests use?
+
Gibraltar is around twenty five minutes and often the cheapest and quickest option for UK guests. Málaga is roughly an hour and ten. There is no train, so arrange transfers either way.
Is Manilva good value?
+
Yes. It sees far fewer visitors than the resorts further east, and venue and accommodation prices reflect that, while the coastline and climate are the same. Accommodation supply is smaller though, so book early.
