Mas Terrats
Mas Terrats, Empordà
Mas Terrats is a family home in the little village of Pontós in the Alt Empordà, about 10 minutes from Figueres and 35 minutes from Girona Airport. The traditional stone masia keeps its original architecture, including a vaulted stone ceiling on the ground floor, and the estate even produces its own olive oil (Wedinspire; casasrurales.net).
Over 250 acres of grounds take in gardens, lavender, olive groves and sunflower fields, with a pool beside the house and pine woods for the ceremony. It holds weddings of up to 100 guests, sleeps 21, and is yours alone for at least two nights. As the family puts it, "you always have a house in Empordà" (Wedinspire).
The spaces
The Pine Woods
A shady woodland clearing near the house for the ceremony.
The Olive Grove
Long tables or round tables under festoon lights among the olive trees.
The Events Room
A modern glass room with countryside views, a blank canvas to style as you like.
The Gardens
Lawns and lavender around the stone house, ideal for drinks.
The Pool
An outdoor pool beside the bougainvillea-covered masia.
The Masia
Nine double rooms with private bathrooms, a dining room and a games room with a bar.
The glass Events Room
Alongside the olive grove and the woods, Mas Terrats has a modern glass-walled Events Room looking out over the countryside (Wedinspire).
It is a blank canvas, so it can be dressed with hanging branches and flowers, long tables or round ones, and it gives you a beautiful plan B if the weather turns. In-house catering is available, or you can bring your own caterer, and an on-site planner is included (Wedinspire).
