Why get married in Antequera?
Antequera sits at the centre of Andalusia, a town of churches, a Moorish alcazaba and UNESCO listed dolmens, ringed by olive groves.
- A working Andalusian town, unshaped by tourism
- Cortijos and haciendas with courtyards and outbuildings among olive groves
- High speed rail to Madrid in around two hours and Seville in under one
- El Torcal and the dolmens for guests to explore
- Considerably better value than the coast
- The Peña de los Enamorados as a backdrop
Wedding Venues in Antequera
Antequera sits almost exactly in the middle of Andalusia, which is how it earned its nickname as the heart of the region. It is a town of churches, convents and a Moorish alcazaba, with a UNESCO listed group of bronze age dolmens on its edge.
Behind it rises the Peña de los Enamorados, a limestone outcrop shaped like a sleeping face, and beyond that El Torcal, a landscape of weathered rock formations unlike anywhere else in Spain.
Why couples choose Antequera
History and landscape, in a place that has not been shaped by tourism. This is a working Andalusian town, and a wedding here feels rooted in a way that coastal resorts do not.
It is also the best connected inland town in the province. The AVE high speed line stops at Antequera-Santa Ana, putting Madrid at around two hours and Seville at under an hour.
Venues are mostly cortijos and haciendas, traditional farmhouse estates set among olive groves, with courtyards and outbuildings that suit a wedding naturally.
Getting here
Málaga airport is around forty five minutes by car. The high speed rail station connects to Madrid, Seville and Córdoba, which is useful if guests are combining the wedding with travel elsewhere in Spain.
The town is inland and there is no coastal traffic to contend with, so journey times are more predictable than on the Costa del Sol.
When to marry here
Inland Andalusia is hotter than the coast in high summer, sometimes considerably, with none of the sea breeze. July and August need careful planning and proper shade.
May, June, September and October are excellent, and the light across the olive groves in autumn is exceptional.
Good to know
Without the sea breeze, summer afternoons can be genuinely fierce. Ceremony timing matters more here than on the coast.
Accommodation is limited compared with the coast, and often on the estates themselves rather than in hotels.
El Torcal and the dolmens make excellent day-before excursions for guests, and both are within twenty minutes.

What our couples say
From the moment we found Swish Soirées, we knew we were in safe hands. Planning our wedding from Madrid while organising guests travelling from across Europe could have been overwhelming, but every step was handled with professionalism and genuine care. The venue looked even more beautiful than we imagined, and every supplier was exceptional. Our family still talks about how magical the whole day was. Thank you for making our dream wedding a reality.
We couldn't have asked for a better wedding planning experience. Every recommendation was perfect, communication was excellent and everything ran exactly as planned on the day. We were able to relax and enjoy every minute with our family and friends, knowing everything was being taken care of behind the scenes. It was simply unforgettable.
Our wedding on the Costa del Sol was everything we'd hoped it would be. Every little detail reflected us as a couple, and the whole day felt relaxed, elegant and full of joy. We never imagined planning a destination wedding could be so straightforward. The support we received throughout the process gave us complete confidence, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.
Choosing Swish Soirées was one of the best decisions we made. From helping us find the perfect venue to coordinating our suppliers and managing the wedding day itself, everything was organised so professionally. We didn't have to worry about a single thing, which meant we could simply enjoy every moment with the people we love. We would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in Spain.
Getting married in Spain had always been our dream, and it exceeded every expectation. The planning process was enjoyable from start to finish, and every question we had was answered quickly and honestly. The attention to detail was outstanding, and the entire celebration felt effortless. Our guests described it as the best wedding they'd ever attended, and we couldn't agree more.
We honestly couldn't have wished for a better experience. Planning a destination wedding from Ireland seemed like a challenge at first, but from our very first call we knew we had made the right choice. When the day arrived, everything was exactly as we'd imagined and the whole day flowed effortlessly. If you're thinking of getting married in Spain, we can't recommend this team highly enough.
