It sits inland from Estepona, around twenty minutes up into the hills, which puts it close enough to the coast to combine the two and high enough to be noticeably cooler.

The setting, first and foremost. There is nowhere on the coast that looks like this, and the village is the photograph. Wide shots from the approach road are among the most dramatic anywhere in Andalusia.
Altitude is the practical benefit. Casares sits well above sea level and is meaningfully cooler than the beach in July and August, which changes what is comfortable during the day.

Getting here
Around twenty minutes up from Estepona, forty five from Gibraltar airport and an hour and a quarter from Málaga.
The road up is winding and the village streets are steep and narrow. Coaches can reach the village but not enter its centre, so drop-off points and walking distances need planning, particularly for older guests.
When to marry here
A longer season than the coast thanks to the altitude. May through October is comfortable, and the shoulder months work better here than at sea level.
Evenings are cooler than guests expect, even in summer. Mention it on the invitation.
