Gran Hotel Miramar
Gran Hotel Miramar, Málaga
Gran Hotel Miramar is Málaga's grandest hotel, a white seafront palace on the Paseo de Reding in La Caleta, a few minutes' walk from the beach and a short ride from the old town. It is a five-star Gran Lujo hotel and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
For weddings, it offers five spaces with sea views, from chandelier-lit ballrooms to a wrought-iron pergola and tropical gardens, for 50 to 250 guests. Your guests can stay in the hotel's rooms and suites, and the party can carry on until 4am, so the whole celebration happens in one beautiful place.
The spaces
Salón Victoria
An elegant ballroom with crystal chandeliers, ornate plasterwork and tall windows, for the wedding dinner and dancing.
Salón Real
A second sea-view salon, ideal for a smaller dinner, a drinks reception or the after-party.
The Pérgola
A striking wrought-iron pergola beside the gardens for an open-air dinner beneath the lattice.
The Caleta Gardens
Palm-filled tropical gardens and lawns at the front of the hotel for the ceremony or cocktails.
The Courtyard
The glass-roofed central patio, with Moorish-style arches and tiles, a stunning backdrop for photographs.
Rooms & Suites
Around 190 rooms and suites, so you and your guests can stay right where the party is.
Nearly a century of Málaga history
The hotel opened in 1926 as the Hotel Príncipe de Asturias, inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII and designed by Málaga architect Fernando Guerrero Strachan (LHW).
During the Spanish Civil War it became a field hospital, and it later served as the city's law courts before falling into disrepair (The Luxury Editor). Fully restored, it reopened as Gran Hotel Miramar, with its Moorish-revival arches, original tiles and glass-roofed courtyard brought back to life. Today couples dine under the wrought-iron pergola or in the chandeliered ballrooms where Málaga society once danced.

Common questions about Gran Hotel Miramar
How many guests can Gran Hotel Miramar hold?
+
Weddings of 50 to 250 guests, across five spaces with sea views, including the Salón Victoria and Salón Real ballrooms, the Pérgola and the Caleta Gardens (Bodas.net). We match the right spaces to your numbers.
Where can we hold the ceremony?
+
The hotel has a civil ceremony space, and the gardens and the Pérgola make beautiful outdoor settings. A Catholic wedding can take place at a church in Málaga with the right permissions, followed by the celebration at the hotel.
How much does a wedding at Gran Hotel Miramar cost?
+
Menus start from around €160 and run to about €230 per guest, including a welcome drink, two or three courses with dessert, service staff, table set-up and table flowers (Bodas.net). There is no separate venue hire fee. The bar is charged on top, either per person or as an open bar for a set time.
What time does the party finish?
+
Weddings can carry on until 4am (Bodas.net), so there is no need to move on to another venue for the late party.
Who does the catering?
+
The hotel's own kitchens, which also run its restaurants. Catering is exclusive to the hotel, and menus can be adapted for vegetarian, vegan, coeliac and other diets.
Can we choose our own photographer and music?
+
Yes. Only the catering is exclusive, so you are free to bring your own photographer, band or DJ (Bodas.net).
Is it exclusive use?
+
No. As a working hotel it can host more than one event on the same day, though each wedding has its own spaces. If you want exclusive use, we can ask the hotel about a full buyout.
Where do guests stay?
+
At the hotel itself, which has around 190 rooms and suites, so guests can walk from the party to bed. There are also plenty of hotels in Málaga's old town, a short taxi ride away.
Can we get legally married at Gran Hotel Miramar?
+
A legal civil wedding in Spain usually requires at least one partner to be resident, so most couples from the UK and Ireland marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony at the hotel.
How far is Gran Hotel Miramar from the airport?
+
Málaga Airport is about 12 km away, around 20 minutes by car (LHW). The hotel is on the seafront in La Caleta, a few minutes from the old town.
